FIFA World is a free online soccer game, a stripped-down version of FIFA's typical yearly offerings. The game allows players to play against one another or against the computer in faithfully simulated soccer games.
FIFA World is an interesting piece of software. On one hand, it's clearly a lighter version of FIFA's generally well-received soccer games. On the other hand, it's actually an easy-to-play, genuinely exciting game. While there are only a few modes in which one can play, what's there is actually quite well made. Indeed, players who enjoy soccer games but who don't want to shell out sixty dollars for a yearly release will probably enjoy this game more than its more rounded counterpart.
Where the game excels is, oddly, also where it falls short. It's simple enough for anyone to pick up, but that means there's not much there to master. Anyone can win a game, but that's generally because the AI of the opponents is poor at best. Even the fact that the game runs easily on most older hardware means that you aren't likely to get the same stunning visuals for which FIFA has become known.
If you don't already have a recent FIFA release, FIFA World is perhaps the best soccer game for you. The fact that it won't cost you a dime is its biggest selling point, but don't be fooled - it's still quite a fun game. While you may grow tired of it relatively quickly, you will still enjoy the games you choose to play. FIFA World does free games right, and that's something for which soccer fans should be grateful.
